Offer a free consult before booking — a call, an in-shop chat, or a video call — then send a quote the client approves to lock it in.
For a bigger or more involved piece, you can talk it through before anyone commits. A consultation is free — no deposit — and slots in right after a request comes in.

A consult sits before the standard booking line — approving the quote is what hands off to deposit & scheduling.
Clients can ask for one too
Switch on Offer consultations in Settings → Brand & site, and your booking page opens with a choice: “I know what I want” or “I'd like a consult first”. The consult path skips the piece details and the deposit step — it just asks who they are and roughly what they're after.
It also lets someone book with the studio rather than a particular artist. Alongside your roster there's a Not sure — match me option, so a client who wants a tattoo at your shop but hasn't decided who should do it can still get started.
NoteThose requests arrive Unassigned and are visible to owners, managers and front desk. Open one and pick an artist under NEEDS AN ARTIST — you can't offer times until you do, because the slots and the deposit both come from that artist's chair.
How it works
1Open the request and choose Propose consult (instead of proposing booking times straight away).
2Pick a few times and the ways you're happy to meet — a phone call, in the shop, or a video call. For video, paste your Meet or Zoom link.
3The client picks a time and how they'd like to meet, and gets a confirmation with the details (and the join link for a video call). Nothing to pay.
4After the consult, hit Send quote: add your notes, a final price (or estimated hours), and a few session times.
5The client approves the quote, picks a session time and pays their deposit — and it's Confirmed, just like any other booking.
NoteBooked consults show on your calendar as a dashed block, so a consult never double-books a tattoo slot. Prefer to skip it? Just propose booking times as usual.
